Generator Hostel Amsterdam is housed in a former university science lab from 1908.
During the building's renovation and modernisation, original features were preserved.
The former lecture hall has been transformed into an impressive chill-out lounge and bar, while the old library is now a relaxation and events room.
The basement and café are now dining destinations and the original boiler room has become a secret late night bar.
Generator Amsterdam is a good place to socialise when you travel alone and want to make friends with fellow travellers, but it is also an attractive place to stay with a group of friends or family.
At Nescio Cafe you can order your beer or grab some food at a reasonable price.
The accommodation has bunk beds, as well as private rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and outdoor terraces. You can already book a bed from €28 or a sleeping pod from €44 per night.
There is also one luxury apartment for 6 people with views of the park and a self-catered kitchen.
Generator offers top-notch affordable accommodation with a lively and social atmosphere. It is also one of Amsterdam’s quirkiest hotels.
Site-specific artworks created by local artists and designers are placed throughout the hostel, including large, eye-catching murals made by graphic artist Pieter Ceizer.
