Moco Museum

modern and contemporary art

A private museum for modern and contemporary art which opened its doors in 2016. It focuses on proven artists, so-called 'Rock Stars of Art', who have their own vision and use a lot of irony towards modern society.

Moco Museum's collection consists of modern and contemporary art with Banksy as a continuous exhibition. On display is one of Banksy's legendary pieces, 'Beanfield.' The huge canvas, located among wooden panels and soft grey walls, shows a humorous nudge towards the police brutality at the Battle of Beanfield in 1985. Photo: FaceMePLS

    Street Art

For decades the owners of the museum - Lionel and Kim Logchies - worked with renowned artists like Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Picasso and Salvador Dalí. But they have also developed a big interest in the up and coming Street Art movement and they keep themselves up to date about all novelties within the underground scene, led by the new Warhol of the street art, Banksy.

    Who's Banksy?  mystery street artist

Banksy is the pseudonym of a street artist whose identity remains unknown. He began his graffiti career in Bristol and became more widely recognized around Bristol and in London.

The artwork of Banksy is characterized by striking images, often combined with slogans. Often engaged with political themes, satirically critiquing war, capitalism, hypocrisy and greed. Common subjects Banksy uses include rats, apes, policemen, members of the royal family, and children.

Banksy's worldwide fame has transformed his artwork from acts of vandalism to high art pieces.
