Conservatorium Hotel *****

fabulous duplex rooms in a luxury hotel for food and art loving guests

Opened in 2012, in a former 19th-century bank (and later Amsterdam's former Sweelinck music conservatorium) building, the Conservatorium Hotel is the perfect base for sightseeing trips, visiting museums and shopping.

The hotel pays tribute to the Amsterdam Conservatorium's legacy by playing soothing classical music selections throughout the hotel.

Italian interior designer and architect Piero Lissoni restored the west facade and created an atrium with natural daylight throughout the building's airy spaces. The luxurious design furnishings are from leading Italian manufactures such as Living Divani, Kartell and Cassina.

Perfect location

The Conservatorium is directly opposite the recently reopened Stedelijk Museum and ideally located between the luxury boutiques of PC Hooftstraat (100 metres away from the hotel) and Museumplein.

From the hotel you have easy access to public transport. Tram 2, 3, 5 and 12 have a stop near the entrance of the hotel.

Indoor garden

The hotel lobby is in an internal courtyard with a glass roof top ceiling, connected to one of the building's wings by an angular, steel staircase. Fig and olive trees form part of an indoor garden.

Rooms & suites

Almost half of the hotel's 129 bedrooms are duplex (bedroom upstairs), taking advantage of the building's incredibly high ceilings. They all have huge windows overlooking the street but they're perfectly soundproofing.

room bathroom

The other rooms are ground-floor rooms, but there are also triplex rooms and a penthouse. All rooms and suites have very comfortable beds and armchairs. All bathrooms feature flat-screen mirror TVs.

Akasha wellbeing centre

The Conservatorium has a modern underground spa, where there are treatment rooms, a hammam, a state-of-the-art indoor pool, watsu pool (for underwater shiatsu treatments) and sauna facilities.

The staff is very friendly and really do their best to make you feel as a guest. There's free Wi-Fi for all guests and a Nespresso coffee machine in the room. The Conservatorium offers its guests sturdy Dutch bikes to hire.

Restaurant & bars

All dining at the Conservatorium is under the direction of the Dutch chef, Schilo van Coevorden.

Brasserie and Lounge

All-day dining is available in the Conservatorium Brasserie and Lounge , located in a beautiful internal courtyard with spectacular huge windows and a glass ceiling. Apart from salads, sandwiches, fish and meat menus it has also classic Dutch nibbles such as Bitterballen and Old Amsterdam cheese on the menu.

Conservatorium Brasserie & Lounge

Taiko , the hotel's restaurant named after ancient Japanese drums, offers Asian-inspired food and menu based on classic and often simple preparations showing great respect to the pureness of fresh, local and seasonal products. The dishes can be shared and there is also a 4- and an 8-course menu.

The restaurant is located in the spacious historic part of the hotel overlooking Paulus Potterstraat and the Stedelijk Museum.
