Canal cruises

Amsterdam's number 1 tourist attraction

Grachten

Amsterdam is sometimes referred to as 'Venice of the North'. 100 km of canals (grachten in Dutch) divide the city into smaller islands, connected by beautiful historic bridges. The most famous canals are the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht.

A canal tour is a great way to view the city from a different angle. The canals were created centuries ago and were often used for transporting goods.

Daytime canal cruises and evening canal cruises (or candlelight cruises) operate throughout the year. Reservations are not required for individuals. Prices vary from approx. €8 for children and €16 for adults for a daytime cruise to approx. €75 for a luxurious dinner cruise.

All boats have panoramic roofs and sliding windows, ensuring superb views and great photos.

A canal cruise through the Amsterdam canals is very popular among tourists. Last year 3.1 million people made a tour.
