Happyhappyjoyjoy

Fast, hustle and bustle, affordable and spicy Asian cuisine

Happyhappyjoyjoy is a new Asian hangout on the Bilderdijkstraat in Amsterdam Oud-West that opened in Summer 2015.

Happyhappyjoyjoy is as hectic, noisy and energetic as the name suggests

Interior

The interior of the restaurant reminds of large Asian cities like Bangkok, Saigon and Kuala Lumpur. The cheerful collection of bright colors, rich flavours and the organized chaos has the atmosphere of turbulent Asian streets and markets. At the entrance is a large bar, behind the restaurant area with red umbrellas on the ceiling and colourful posters on the walls, and in the rear area is the large open kitchen where cooks from all over the world are toiling.

Menu

Happyhappyjoyjoy serves fresh and spicy street food dishes with Thai, Malay, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Chinese and Korean influences. The size of the (tapas-like) dishes are small, so you should order 3 to 4 dishes to equal a full meal. Taste typical Asian dishes like Har Kau, Thod Man Pla, Shao Mai, vegetarian tempura or red hot specialties like 'hot & spicy shrimps' or steamed mussels in XO sauce.
The restaurant also offers different kinds of Asian beers, and there's also a tea menu with various flavors that are served in a traditional way.

For singles, couples and families with young children

Since the opening of the restaurant it is often packed, so it is recommended to book in advance. With its relaxed, colourful atmosphere and different small and sweet dishes Happyhappyjoyjoy is also a very child-friendly restaurant.
