Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

Museum for Modern and Contemporary Art and Design

The new extension of Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, designed by Benthem Crouwel, looks like an oversize shaped bathtub. The large snow white canopy contrasts with the rear of the old one, a beloved red-and-white-striped, late-19th-century Neo-Renaissance brick pile by Adriaan Willem Weissman.

'The Bathtub' ('De Badkuip' in Dutch) includes extra exhibition space along with a restaurant, store and new entrance on the ground floor facing Museumplein.
