Vondelmonument (1867)

statue of poet and playwright Joost van den Vondel (1587-1679)

The 230 cm high bronze statue shows Vondel sitting on a chair, holding an open book in one hand, while holding a goose feather (ink pen) with his other.

The sandstone angels with attributes on the 4 corners each symbolise a part of his oeuvre.
