a diverse collection of 3,500+ bags, pouches, suitcases, purses and accessories

The Museum of Bags and Purses is a unique museum with a collection covering the Western bag that ranges from the Middle Ages through to the present.

The bags give a fascinating picture of the great variety of function, form, kind material and sorts of decoration used through the centuries.

Visitors will be able to see regular themed exhibitions , as well as the historical collection. The museum also plays a role in stimulating Dutch and international designers by organizing exhibitions of their work, and by selling their work in the museum shop and at the web shop.
