Marie Heinekenplein

round square at the place of the old Heineken brewery with many outdoor seating cafés

The first Heineken beer ever was brewed on 22 January 1868 at what is now Marie Heinekenplein. Marie Heineken was a cousin of the brewery's founder (Gerard Adrianus Heineken) and in her time a famous painter of still lifes.

The oldest part of the brewery round the corner on Stadhouderskade is now a museum (Heineken Experience) where visitors can learn all about the history of the company and the beer.

Marie Heinekenplein is located in De Pijp neighborhood nearby the famous daily market Albert Cuyp Markt.
